Ministers Take Part in Natural Resource Panel in Quesnel

Several BC Cabinet Ministers were in Quesnel late Monday afternoon as part of a natural resource ministers panel at the Seniors Centre in Quesnel.

Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes hosted a q and a session that lasted for the better part of an hour and a half.

Concerns raised included several around placer mining such as a delay in notice of applications and water licences, as well as concerns from ranchers about a loss of range.

Oakes says it was designed for people who had open files in her office whose concerns were cross ministry.

Oakes says she also had an opportunity to illustrate the need for access roads in the North Cariboo to Transportation Minister Todd Stone.

She says also talked about the need from an emergency perspective for not only a road to NewGold but also the Purden Connector from Wells.

Attending the forum were Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations Minister Steve Thomson, Energy and Mines Minister Bill Bennett, Environment Minister Mary Polak and Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Minister John Rustad as well as Cariboo/Chilcotin MLA and Northern Caucus Chair Donna Barnett.
