The jobless rate in the Cariboo region was down last month but employment remained stagnant.
Vincent Ferro, a Labour Market Analyst with Stats Canada, says the unemployment rate was 7 percent last month, which was down from 7.7 in May of 2015.
Ferro is quick to clarify however that the drop was not because more people were working.
In fact there was around 900 fewer people employed and also less people looking for work.
Ferro says there were more people working in manufacturing but that was offset by fewer people working in wholesale and retail trade.
