A recent online scam through the popular ad site Craig’s List has RCMP in Williams Lake reminding the public to be “web” aware when responding to online ads.
RCMP say an ad advertising a rental unit with an address and photos of a home in Williams Lake proved to be anything but legit when the fraudulent owner asked for payment through a wire in Nigeria.
RCMP ask anyone with any knowledge of this offence to contact them and suggest that online users follow the advice given on Craig’s List website, which includes to never wire funds.
