Telephone Scams Circulating 100 Mile House

The 100 Mile House RCMP have received complaints recently of telephone scams circulating the area.

Cpl. Brian Lamb gives us an example of one of the phone scams going around.

“The person calls and says they are an agent of Revenue Canada and that they have a relative of the person that is being called in custody and they request bail money for that person to be released, and obviously that type of process does not happen with Revenue Canada or with the RCMP.”

Lamb says if you receive a call and they are looking for money over the phone to be very weary and call the agency the person is claiming to be from.

If anyone feels as if they have been scammed for money they are asked to call the Non-Emergency line or go into their local detachment to report the incident.
