Shriners plan to return to Williams Lake

The Shriners of BC and Yukon plan to return to the Lake City following last month’s spring ceremonial convention and parade.

President of the Board Steve Whiteside, says when they were done people said that they could not understand why it took 120 years to be in Williams Lake.

“Every single person I got was positive reactions. They said the people at Williams Lake were so nice,so easy to talk to, answered questions. I mean everything from the hotel to the store merchants, to the people who made our food-the caterers, everybody was really nice and had a great attitude. You don’t find that in some of the bigger cities you know.”

Whiteside says the membership of the Shriners hope to come back to Williams Lake in the near future.

They’ll be holding their spring ceremonial next year in Whitehorse.

The event generated between $300,000 to 400,000 according to Councillor Craig Smith.
