BC Chambers, including those in the Cariboo, are calling for PST reform.
Michelle Daniels, the President of the Quesnel and District Chamber of Commerce, says as it stands “if you’re a businesses and investing in your own business, new technologies, then you don’t actually receive the tax credit for that.
She says they are looking for a different way to look at the PST and going to more of a value added tax credit.
Daniels agrees that there is a sense of frustration that nothing has changed since the failed HST referendum five years ago.
BC’s Chambers have passed a policy calling for a dialogue towards a made-in-BC value-added tax, and in the shorter term, measures to mitigate what it calls “the damaging effects of the PST.”
