Petro Can Gas Shortages No Need for Alarm says Senior Petroleum Analyst

Motorists should not panic over recent gas shortages being seen at Petro Canada.

Senior Petroleum Analyst with Gas Buddy.com, Dan McTeague says there is no need for alarm.

“There are two other refineries doing quite well. Shell is producing again and so is Imperial Oils right out of Edmonton, so you know stay to what you normally would. There’s plenty of supply out there.”

McTeague says he has seen shortages at Petro Can as far north as Fort St John and all the way back to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Although Suncor, which supplies Petro Canada, did not return our request for an interview, McTeague says he understands their unit which went offline cannot be fixed overnight and that it may take a couple of days or even weeks.

He says it may be 5 to 7 days before things return to normal.

Petro Canada in Williams Lake went dry Sunday night.
