Race for Kids Raises Over $20,000 For Williams Lake Boys and Girls Club

Adults raced across the City of Williams Lake Saturday raising more than $20,000 for kids.

Georgina Chipman with her Puddle Puzzlers team mates, says this was the first time she took part in the Capital One Race for Kids.

“For a good cause supporting the Williams Lake Boys and Club, we wanted to go together as a team and do a scavenger around the town and support local businesses.”

Boys and Girls Club Operations Coordinator, Stephanie Hendrickson says 14 teams took part in the race this year that had new check points, clues to solve, and challenges.

“We had a great year this year. Being our second year, I think the word was starting to get out. We had some checkpoints who even approached me asking if they could be checkpoints as opposed to me going to them. We had a really great, great time finding checkpoints and everyone was really excited to be a part of this.”

The funds which will stay in Williams Lake will go directly towards programs the Club offers for children between the ages of 7 and 18.

Other teams in this year’s Capital One Race for Kids included the Williams Lake Fire Department Recruits, Not so Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the Real Housewives of Gibraltar.
