Williams Lake Mayor says lots of misinformation floating around on Disposition of Parkland

Information and misinformation has been floating around on the potential sale of five Lake City Parks since a public open house last month.

That’s according to Mayor Walt Cobb.

He says that it needs to be noted that in most areas the average opens space standard across Canada is 11.75 to 20.0 acres per 1,000 population.

“In Williams Lake we have approximately 114 acres per 1,000 population. With that in mind there may be some room for movement.”

The City is currently awaiting a staff report from the May 12th public consultation on how to proceed with the potential sale of the Twelfth Avenue Tot Park, Johnson Street Park, Beauchamp Park, Gibbon Street Park, and Patrick Reid Park.
