Area A Forum To Get Underway

Ted Armstrong, Susan MacNeill, and Cory Delves.

They are the three candidates for the upcoming election in the Cariboo Regional District for Area A.

People living in the area will have a chance to meet them at an all-candidates forum tomorrow night at 7 at the Kersley Hall.

This will be the first vote in 25 years as Armstrong has been acclaimed every three years since then.

Here he talks about what he sees as what’s important in an Area Director…

“I think experience is extremely important for the simple reason if you make contacts through your political life, to in better words to get money from provincial and federal sources.”

MacNeill, on the other hand, says she feels it’s time for a change in Area A…

“I just believe we need someone with some energy. I believe we need somebody who wants to promote the economic development of our rural-based community. I believe some fresh thinking is needed just so we can approach this transition time with a different understanding and some new energy.”

Delves, meanwhile, says he’s running because he feels it’s time that people in Area A had the chance to vote and that they had some choices.

Delves is a former Mayor of the community of Port Clements on the Queen Charlotte Islands from 2005 to 2011.
