Williams Lake Fire Department to Hold Annual Open House Sunday

Expect to find cotton candy and Sparky the fire dog at the Williams Lake Fire Department tomorrow.

Deputy Fire Chief Rob Warnock says they started holding open houses back at the old fire hall.

“It lets the community come out and meet the firefighters number one and see the equipment we have, go through the firehall and it’s always nice to know what you have in the community.”

Warnock says their annual open houses have probably been going on now for 10 to 15 years.

Sunday’s open house at the Williams Lake Fire Department runs from 10 am until 1 pm.

The Big Lake Volunteer Fire and Rescue will also be having an open house to be mark their 20th anniversary.

A garbage truck caught on fire on Larch Avenue off Highway 97 in South Quesnel. The Quesnel Fire Chief says the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but otherwise is okay.

Another prescribed burn is scheduled to begin later this week.

Williams Lake RCMP arrest wanted man

RCMP arrested a wanted man who was a suspect in a violent break and enter that occurred last week. The man is being held in custody to appear before the court.
