Eighty more firefighters from BC are en route to Alberta to help fight the Fort McMurray wildfire which remains out of control.
Fire Information Officer Ryan Turcotte says they’re expected to arrive Sunday and are in addition to the already 113 BC personnel who had arrived Wednesday.
As of Friday afternoon, the Fort McMurray wildfire was estimated to cover over 570,000 hectares in Alberta and about 3,200 hectares in Saskatchewan.
BC Crews will be joining firefighters from South Africa, the U.S, as well others from across the country to support the efforts.
