Man Faces Charges Following Single Vehicle Collision

A 46-year old man is in trouble with the law following a single vehicle accident in the South Cariboo early Saturday morning.

100 Mile House RCMP say they received a report at around 2 am of a possible collision on Canim-Hendrix Lake Road just east of Highway 97.

A witness reported that there was a vehicle in the ditch and that the driver displayed symptoms of impairment.

Police say the driver attempted to drive the vehicle away but it was stopped and he was detained.

RCMP say the driver was initially cooperative but later became violent with officers and he was then taken to the detachment.

Police says the driver, from the Gateway area, is now facing several charges including impaired driving, refusal to provide a breath sample and assaulting an officer.

He will appear in court in Williams Lake on Wednesday.
