North District Officers Named to Alexa’s Team 2015

Police officers from around northern BC were named to Alexa’s Team 2015 in a ceremony in Prince George on Wednesday.

Alexa’s mother Laurel Middler says her family looks forward to adding new members to the Team every year.

“It’s a real bright light for us because these are people who are going above and beyond. It’s hard doing what they do and they see under the belly of society and a lot of times it’s not pleasant, but they keep doing it because they know it’s making a difference…I find people like that to be my heroes.”

Alexa Middelaer was just 4 years old when she was killed by a drunk driver in 2008.

Alexa’s Team has been honoring officers from across the province for their efforts to get impaired drivers off the road since 2009.

Joining the team this year from the Cariboo is Cst. Alex Hutt from 100 Mile House, Cst. Richard Meaver from Williams Lake, and Cst. Kevan Cranmer from Quesnel.

Together, Alexa’s Team got 617 impaired drivers off the roads.
