Oakes Announces Increased “Hopportunities” For Craft Brewers

Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes made a 10-million dollar announcement at Barkerville Brewing in Quesnel late Friday afternoon.
Oakes, the Minister of Small Business and reducing Red Tape, says it is the result of reducing the mark-up rate for craft beer products.
She says effective July 3rd the mark-up rate for small and regional breweries will be reduced by approximately 25 percent.
Oakes says that means the craft breweries will have increased financial capacity to grow and expand, and that it will also enable craft breweries to increase production and create jobs.
She adds they will also increase cash flow for breweries as they will no longer have to remit the supplier price of their products to the Liquor Distribution Branch.
