ICBC and police are asking motorists to plan ahead for increased traffic volumes so their not tempted to rush to their destination this May long weekend.
High-risk driving behaviors increase your chances of crashing and contribute to almost half of all crashes that result in injury or death in BC.
And this statistic doesn’t only apply to motorist using the highways as Sam Corea Spokesperson for ICBC explains.
“Whether you’re just going across town or across the province it’s important to stay focused on the road and be aware of what’s happening. Avoid the distractions and avoid unsafe speeds”.
This long weekend and throughout the month of May police are stepping up enforcement across BC targeting high-risk driving behaviors, specifically speeding.
Last year 18 people were injured in 110 crashes throughout the North Central region over the Victoria day long weekend.
