A pedestrian is dead following a collision with a pickup truck in Quesnel last night.
RCMP Constable Krista Vrolek confirms that a pedestrian was struck and killed by a southbound pickup truck on North Fraser Drive near Ewing Avenue by the footbridge.
Vrolek says the accident happened at around 8 o’clock.
Here she comments on the investigation…
“Preliminary investigation suggests the that pedestrian was not utilizing the nearby crosswalk and that visibility was poor due to rain and darkness. Collision re-constructionists and traffic investigators from North Cariboo Traffic Services were called out to the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.”
Constable Vrolek says the driver of the pickup remained at the scene and immediately called 9-1-1 but tragically the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The name of the female victim has not been released.
