Williams Lake volunteer receives award

A Williams Lake man is among a select group of British Columbians who will be receiving the Medal of Good Citizenship.

Dave DIckson, City of Williams Lake Community Safety Co-Ordinator, was honoured with this award for his wide ranging volunteer contributions in the Williams Lake and Chilcotin-Cariboo region, but says he can’t take all the credit.

“I get to work with so many wonderful people, the police office, my volunteers, the community, our friends. When you get to work with wonderful people like that it’s nice to volunteer cause you’re working with fun people and the best thing about it is your helping other people and that’s what makes me and my family tick.”

The Medal of Good Citizenship recognizes individuals who, through exceptional long-term service, have made outstanding contributions to their communities without expectation of renumeration or reward.

Dickson will receive his award May 24th at 5pm at Williams Lake City Hall.
