Quesnel Teachers President Calls Out MLA For Being Absent

The President of the Quesnel District Teachers Association wants to know where the MLA was during today’s announcement by Quesnel’s education partners.
Lisa Kishkan says it is becoming a common theme.
She says Coralee Oakes is “gaining a reputation for not being present for the hard decisions and the hard discussions.”
Kishkan says not only was Oakes not at today’s (May 16) press conference but she also wasn’t at the School Board meeting when the closure of three schools was announced in her constituency.
She says it is clear that Cariboo North has an MLA of a government that doesn’t value public education.
Kishkan says she would like to see Quesnel’s Board of Education, along with others in the province, submit a deficit budget to get the message across that the Liberals aren’t properly funding the system.
We have contacted MLA Oakes’ office and have so far been unable to get a comment from her.
