Prelim Set For Accused In Quesnel Shooting Incident

A date has been set for a preliminary inquiry for a Quesnel man, arrested following a shooting on the Red Bluff Reserve.
48-year old Kelvin Alphonse is due back in court on December 12th.
Alphonse is charged with Careless Use Of a Firearm, Pointing a Firearm, Unlawfully Discharging a Firearm and Discharging a Firearm With Intent to Wound or Disfigure.
The charges are in connection with an alleged incident back on January 31st.
Quesnel RCMP, responding to a complaint of shots fired, located a 38-year old female who was suffering from a gunshot wound.
She was transferred to hospital in Vancouver where she was listed in serious condition.
Police said at the time that they believe that the two people involved knew each other.

A garbage truck caught on fire on Larch Avenue off Highway 97 in South Quesnel. The Quesnel Fire Chief says the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but otherwise is okay.

BCGEU strike headed to mediation

The B.C. General Employees' Union (BCGEU) and the provincial government have agreed to enter non-binding mediation, expected to begin as soon as possible. Vince Ready and Amanda Rogers are to be the mediators facilitating the process. The BCGEU said in a statement, it's members will still maintain picket lines across the province while mediation proceeds.
