Cariboo Region looks to Develop Relationships with China

Representatives from the Cariboo Regional District, as well as the Mayors of Williams Lake, 100 Mile House, and Wells traveled to Vancouver to meet with a delegation from China earlier this week.

Chair for the CRD, Al Richmond says the delegation from Guangdong Province was the result of the Premier’s visit to China late last year.

“We lobbied with the support of the Consul General from China to be included in the economic discussions with respect to the delegation that came from Guangdong Province to Vancouver. We wanted to have the input into developing relationships with China.”

Although 11 business deals valued in the billions were signed between B.C and Guangdong companies during the May 8-9 visit, Richmond says the Cariboo is looking at smaller agreements.

A delegation from China is anticipated to visit Barkerville, Quesnel, Williams Lake, and 100 Mile House next month.
