Decision Day Set For Quesnel Man Accused Of Assaulting A Police Officer

A Quesnel man, accused of assaulting a police officer, will learn his fate on August 9th.
That’s when a decision is expected in Provincial court for 68-year old Raymond Kozuchar.
His trial was held back in March.
Kozuchar pled not guilty to charges that include Assaulting a Police Officer, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample.
Quesnel RCMP say they stopped a vehicle on the Barkerville Highway back in June of 2014 and that when the officer asked the driver to provide a breath sample as part of an impaired driving investigation, he refused.
Police say the driver then resisted arrest and that he and his 23-year old son then began striking the officer in the head until a second officer arrived on scene.
Both of the accused were arrested the following morning at a nearby residence.
The injured officer was treated in hospital for head injuries and a dislocated shoulder.
Ryan Kozachar pled guilty to his charges back in March of 2015 and was sentenced to 165 days in jail.
