Williams Lake Community Policing Members Receive Certificates of Recogniton

Williams Lake Community Policing Members Raj Mudhar and Chris Dow received Certificates of Recognition at Tuesday’s Regular City Council Meeting.

“Our citizens on patrol have implemented a youth program for youth from 16-19 and those who wish to enter a career in some of policing and or other related employment…we started out with three members and two of them are still with us… They work with regular members of our patrol. They patrol on foot, on bikes, and in vehicles,” says mentor Bob McIntosh.

“The fire at the Slumber Lodge here in Williams Lake, two of our members (Mudhar and Dow) were the first people to report that fire and then had the foresight to go around and talk to members in the surrounding area to advise what was happening…they patrolled that Slumber Lodge for sometime-for roughly a over year and found youth there in the past and a simple call got them removed pretty quickly.”

McIntosh adds that Mudhar and Dow also write community tickets for people who are leaving valuables in their vehicle and don’t have current decals, as well as being involved in Speedwatch.

“In one time, just over a simple shift they broke over 27 tickets just in a 4 hour period, and the longer period they checked over 750 vehicles.”
