United Concrete Fire In Williams Lake Could Have Been Worse

“All of the people made it out and the stuff can be replaced.”

That was the sentiment of Williams Lake City Councillor Sue Zacharias on this morning’s large industrial fire at United Concrete and Gravel.

Her husband is a co-owner.

Zacharias says everyone was at work when some flames were noticed in the shop area.

She says “to no avail were we able to put it out or control it, it just spread so the workers just got out of the shop and the offices and it went so quickly that within 20 minutes, 15 minutes, the entire building was engulfed.”

Zacharias says one of the mechanics did suffer a burn to one of his hands.

She says they’re not sure at this point what caused the fire.
