Crews battle Blaze at United Concrete & Gravel

Smoke billowed across much of Williams Lake this morning following a blaze at United Concrete and Gravel.

Crews from the Williams Lake Fire Department and RCMP were early on scene shortly after 8 am and later blocked off public access to the scorching site.

Although crews or the co-owners, Paul Zacharias and City Councillor Sue Zacharias were not available for comment, we spoke to Mayor Walt Cobb.

He says according to Sue Zacharias, the blaze started in the garage portion of the facility.

“Are you ok?, and then she said the smoke started coming into her office so she grabbed her stuff and ran out to get the vehicles out from in front the building. It’s another bad news story.”

Damage to the building appears to be extensive.

The Williams Lake Fire Department were still on scene as of 11 am.
