Wielding Chainsaw Man at Deka Lake Sentenced to 102 Days in Jail

A Prince George man, who wielded a chainsaw at some police officers in Deka Lake, has been sentenced in provincial court in Williams Lake.

Brandt Miller was sentenced to 102 days in jail, three years probation and also received a 10-year firearms prohibition.

Miller pled guilty to several charges including Assault, Assaulting a Police Officer and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.

Several other charges including Assault With a Weapon and Criminal Harassment were stayed.

Miller was arrested in July of last year.

100 Mile House RCMP were called out to an assault in progress after a man refused to put out a campfire due to a province-wide ban being in place.

The suspect is then accused of becoming abusive and trying to steal their fire truck.

RCMP say the fire fighters managed to prevent that from happening but were then assaulted.

Police say the man then grabbed a chainsaw, started it up and used it in a threatening manner against them.

He was eventually arrested with the help of some pepper spray.
