363 of an approximate 740 TRU Faculty Members at campuses in Kamloops and Williams Lake cast their ballot in a non-confidence vote with 81% voting “no confidence” in the leadership of the University’s senior administration.
Faculty Association President Tom Friedman announced the results of a non-confidence vote initiated by staff yesterday.
He says the outcome is undeniable evidence that Faculty are calling for change.
“The response that Faculty are hoping for is an invitation to sit down first maybe with the TRU Board of Governors and start listening to what the concerns of Faculty have been.”
Friedman says this is one of the highest faculty participation rates for a University-wide vote in 30 years.
“We hope that this vote will be enough to start change on the part of administration. If we don’t see evidence of change, then we have other options we will have to consider very seriously down the road.”
