Large Turnout At Second Mayoral Forum

It was organized by local taxpayers and saw a large turnout of local taxpayers; more than half of the Gibraltar room was filled to ask questions to the four Mayoral Candidates.

Questions from debt and property to senior housing and health premiums, proved to some of the key questions, with one resident asking why Mayoral incumbent Kerry Cook and Councillor Mayoral Candidate Surindorpal Rathor, were giving different responses when asked about numbers and facts.

Mayoral Candidate, Walt Cobb says he has heard from the community about concerns of what goes on at City Hall is behind closed doors, and is experiencing some difficulty, himself, in getting answers.

“I don’t know who to believe, honestly…Some of the information I received, is not what we heard tonight and everything should be clear; black and white. People need to know where City Hall is spending their money.”

The forum which came to a close shortly before 9 pm, left similar feelings from the crowd, with steelworker Kulvinder saying he appreciated the free forum although he felt there were quite a few discrepancies that he feels did not get the chance to get answered.

Wayne, a senior and 42 year lake City resident, says he too was fairly happy although further opportunities for rebuttals would have been nice.

Mayoral Incumbent Kerry Cook answered 16 questions, with Candidates Walt Cobb answering 13, Surinderpal Rathor 11 and John Bjornstrom 6.

The Mayoral Forum wrapped up around 9 pm, with each of the candidates giving a 4-minute closing statement.
