Crews contain wildfires in the Cariboo Fire Centre

There’s good news regarding recent wildfires in the Cariboo Fire Centre.

Fire Information Officer Emily Epp says they’ve been contained or extinguished.

“BC Wildfire crews have successfully contained or exinguished, all the recent wildfires throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre specifically the wildfire near Nazko and the wildfire near the Bonaparte River Recreation Site are both now 100% contained.”

All other fires in the Cariboo Fire Centre are either extinguished or in the patrol stage at this time.

The Cariboo Fire Centre has responded to 39 wildfires Since March 1st, 2016, all of which were human caused.

All open burning throughout the Cairboo Fire Centre other than campfires has been prohibited since April 4th.
