Man facing six charges after threats, damages to police cruisers, and injuring an officer

Quesnel RCMP have recommended six charges against a man who was arrested when attempting to flee in a rural part of town on Thursday.

RCMP received reports of a suspected impaired driver making threats to another man at a rural address on Highway 97 North.

Police say when they arrived, a suspected impaired driver was making threats of harm towards another man.

When the Police attempted to stop the suspected impaired man with a traffic stop, the man used his vehicle to ram several police cruisers, damaging multiple police cruisers and injuring one officer.

The man then fled and abandoned his vehicle on a rural property nearby.

Quesnel RCMP, with the assistance of resources from the Prince George RCMP, which included police service dogs, the Emergency Response Team, and the RCMP Air Unit, arrested and brought the man into custody.

The man is being held for a bail hearing.

Police are recommending six charges to Crown Counsel. Assault on a Police Officer with a weapon, Obstruction, Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Driving while prohibited, Impaired driving, and Uttering threats.
