Sanitary Sewer Relining in Downtown Core

Sanitary sewer relining will be taking place in the downtown core of Williams Lake.

Joe Engelberts, Manager of Water and Waste for the City, says this the 7th year of a 10 year program that they’re doing.

“We do about a kilometer every year. They’re doing all the work at night, so there is some inconvenience to property owners but they minimize that but doing it in the middle of the night and it’s only for a short period of time.”

Engelberts says the current infrastructure has been in place since 1954 and that relining the existing pipe is considerably less cost than full replacement.

Insituform Technologies Inc is currently doing cleaning and camera work on the sanitary collections mains in preparation of the relining which start at the end of April.
