The Cariboo Regional District’s Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan Open Houses continue this week.
Emergency Program Coordinator for the CRD, Leanne Rivet said these plans will identify wildfire hazards on public lands, especially where homes and buildings meet or mix with the forest.
“These plans will look at how wildfire can impact communities and suggest practical ways to make the community safer.”
Rivet said for those attending these open houses, the public will learn what is at stake and understand the wildfire risk to their community.
“They can learn how to FireSmart their properties, learn about wildfire mitigation and strengthen their preparedness for wildfire.
The CRD’s Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan Open Houses will be held this week at:
The Miocene Community Hall today (September 15)
The Forest Grove Community Hall Wednesday September 17
and the Interlakes Community Hall Thursday September 18.
“Each of those will be starting at 5:45 pm and ending roughly at 7:45 pm. The Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan presentation will be at 6, followed by a question and answer period at 6:30 and at 7:15 there will be a map exercise,” Rivet said.
