Armed man taken into custody in Quesnel

The Quesnel RCMP received a report of a man with a handgun early Friday morning.

Local police attended a home on the 2200 block of Cedar Street just after 3:30 am.

A perimeter was set up around the residence and surrounding homes were evacuated.

Just after 8:30 a service dog from Prince George and members of the North District Emergency Team were called and later took the suspect into custody.

No further information will be released at this time as the investigation is on-going.
