Arrests Made in 2nd Avenue Disturbance

3 people are in custody following a report of a disturbance where shots may have been fired inside a residence in the 1100 block of 2nd Avenue North in Williams Lake.

Police say they received the report at around 7:45 pm Wednesday and believe the incident to be targeted and is gang related.

The North District Major Crime Unit currently have 3 individuals in custody-2 men ages 21 and 27 and a 23 year old woman.

The trio have been remanded in custody and are potentially facing charges of;

  • Discharging a firearm with intent (section 244.1 CC)
  • Reckless discharging of a firearm (section 244.2 CC)

The next court appearance in Williams Lake Court for the two men is set for April 14th and April 4th for the woman.

Police say that around the same they received the report of the disturbance, they received information that a 20 year old man had been brought to local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. Unfortunately despite all emergency medical efforts the man succumbed to his injuries at hospital.

Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding the disturbance at the 2nd Avenue residence or any suspicious activity that occurred leading up to the disturbance, to please contact the Williams Lake RCMP at 250-392-6211 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
