UPDATE: Wildfire Near Jack of Clubs Lake

**Update on July 31. 13:00 **

The Cariboo Fire Centre (CFC) has provided an update on the wildfire spotted south of Jack of Clubs Lake.

Drone footage shows the fire has grown to 2.2 hectares in size; however, the CFC says the fire has grown minimally overnight, but it is still listed as Out of Control.

Ground crews have established a water line and a water delivery system. The crews also have heavy equipment support, which has established a control line.

CFC says smoke may be visible to commuters along Highway 26, the community of Wells, and Barkerville. But there is no impact on traffic along the Highway, nor on the residences of Wells, or critical infrastructure.

The cause of the wildfire is believed to have been a lightning strike. CFC reports its area received 1245 lightning strikes on July 30 during a convective storm.

Two fires near Williams Lake have been updated to Out and Being Held.

The wildfire C21128, near Grouse Rd. and Buckskin has been put out. Another wildfire, C21129, in the Dog Creek area remains Being Held and is now Under Control.

That fire reached 0.04 hectares in size, and was also caused by a lightning strike.

The CFC anticipates more lightning strikes to occur tonight. Temperatures of the day are floating between 31 and 34 degrees Celsius. The CFC anticipates the temperature to cool down tomorrow, August 1, to around 26 degrees Celsius.
