It’s Williams Lake & District 4H Members time to shine

It’s a busy time of year at the BC Livestock Yards in Williams Lake.

The 67th Annual Williams Lake and District 4H Show and Sale will take place tomorrow morning (July 31) starting at 10:30 with the Horse Show running through to Monday (August 4).

President Ross Stafford said members that take part in this event always look forward to it, himself included.

“I love the program. I was part of it from the age of 9 right up until 19 then I had a few years off. Then I came back doing it as a leader for the kids and again, for the love of the program.”

Stafford said 4H members learn a lot from being involved in 4H.

“They learn how to raise animals and they learn public speaking. So down the road if they get a different job opportunity, they can stand up and present themselves in front of groups and put presentations together.”

Stafford noted a lot of 4h members continue on in the Agricultural field as they’re part of ranches already carrying on what they learned about caring and raising livestock.

This Annual 5-day event wraps up Monday afternoon with the parade of champions at 4:30 followed by the sale starting at 5:30.

Even though Monday is a holiday, Stafford said they always get great support.

“Last year we had great attendance, we had support from many businesses in Williams Lake, 100 Mile House and surrounding areas. We also have DLMS for people to log into and watch the sale and bid online they just need to register for the DLMS before Monday so they can log in. There’s lots of opportunities for people to support our kids on sale night whether they’re here or watching at home.”

Nine 4H Clubs are taking part in the 67th Annual Williams Lake and District 4H Show and Sale:

Big Lake, Canim Valley, Chimney Valley, Highland, Horsefly, Lone Butte, Rose Lake/Miocene, Springhouse and Williams Lake First Nation.
