Military Training to be Done in Chilcotin until August

The Canadian Department of National Defense is letting the public know they will be conducting training exercises in the Chilcotin from July 18 until August 5.

The training exercises will have live fire components to them, and they could take place day and night. The Department of National Defense states the training may involve military ground vehicles, foot traffic, and the use of pyrotechnics as well as live and blank ammunition.

Aircraft may also be incorporated in the training exercises. Residents in the area are being asked to be aware that there may be high and low flying aircraft, and parachute training. There may also be aircraft using lights and flares in the night.

This training will take place in the area known as Block 7741, previously known as the Chilcotin Military Range, about 50 km west of Williams Lake.
