Gibraltar Mine Receives John Ash Award for 2nd Year in a row

More than three million hours accident free at Taseko’s Gibraltar Mine has received recognition from the province.

The Mine was awarded by the Ministry of Mines and Energy for the second year in a row with the John Ash Safety Award at the 54th Annual Mine Safety Awards held in Victoria last week.

Dave Rouleau, Taseko’s Vice President of Taseko Mines Limited, states in a company press release, “Taseko and Gibraltar employees are performance oriented, focused on maintaining a world class operation. Operating with high standards is paramount to the Company’s foundation. It is because of the concerted effort of management, employees, and contractors that our high health and safety standards have not only been continuously met, but have been precedent setting within British Columbia’s mining industry. The accident free period continues and now exceeds three million worker hours.”

The Mine Safety Awards were established in 1961 by the British Columbia Ministry of Mines and Petroleum Resources to recognize the safety record of mines throughout the province.
