Quesnel Emergency Services Respond to Brush Fire on Lewis Drive

A bush fire in Quesnel’s city limits had the RCMP and the Fire Department take quick action yesterday [May 14] afternoon.

Fire Chief Ron Richert says the grassland fire was on a slope in the uplands, in an alleyway between Lewis Drive and Picard Avenue. Fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze.

“There were no structures involved,” says Richert. “We don’t know the cause of the fire at this time, we’re still investigating that.”

Fire crews also raked and dug along the slope to make sure the fire was extinguished, and there were no residual hot spots left. The fire has all been put out.
