UPDATE: Wildfire In Alexis Creek now ‘Under Control’

*** UPDATED: May 14 ***

Cariboo Fire Centre says the wildfire in Alexis Creek is now “under control.”

The fire’s perimeter was last estimated to be 556 hectares in size, and continues to see “low fire behaviour.”

Fire Information Officer Jessica Mack says there was rain over the direct area yesterday, and with the use of drones, fire crews were able to determine the remaining hot spots.

Ground crews are still on site and prioritizing the extinguishing of the hot spots, and as of the evening of May 13, the fire’s status has been changed on the BC Wildfire Service’s website from “being held” to “under control.”
