The Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital Board (CCRHB) has given the green light for equipment funding at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel.
Chair Al Richmond said 3 pieces of equipment are included in that funding.
“There were two anesthetic machines that are reaching their end of life so Northern Health applied to replace those units. Total cost of the project is about $274,000 and we (CCRHB) would normally fund 40% of that project so our cost is about $109,600 towards replacement.”
Richmond noted this equipment provides people with more modern and up to date equipment when they have to undergo surgery.
“The other piece of equipment for replacement that was reaching the end of it’s life is the ultrasound machine at the G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital. The project cost on that is about $251,000 and our 40% of that is $100,400. These are normal replacement things, we buy this equipment and you have to know that in a few years you’re going to have to replace it because it age’s out or replaced by more modern, efficient equipment.”
Bylaws to authorize the expenditure will be presented on May 3rd for approval.
