Empty Bowls Fundraiser Helping Those In Need In The Lake City

Local charities serving those in need will benefit from the return of the “Empty Bowls” campaign in Williams Lake.

The Cariboo Potters Guild has been busy handcrafting these unique bowls for residents to purchase now through April 25 (or until bowls sell out).

Dani Gastadello, Program Coordinator of the Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society said these bowls can be purchased for a minimum donation of $25 each from the Bean Counter Bistro & Coffee bar as well as the Laughing Loon.

“The money fundraised will be going to 3 local organizations, the Salvation Army Food Bank, Women’s Contact Society and St Vincent De Paul Society. On Thursday April 17 it’s free Soup Day. When you visit these locations you’ll get a free bowl of soup with your bowl purchase.”

Past Empty Bowl campaigns have raised an average of $3,000-plus.

“We usually have this event take place every two years,” Gastadello said, “and I think the last time we did it was in 2022. The ladies at the Cariboo Potters Guild have been creating these special bowls since January. We looked at receiving 160 bowls at the low end going up to 200 and I think we’re at about 180 right now. We thank them for donating these stunning pieces and the Osprey Nest and Bean Counter for kindly hosting this fundraiser.”
