Still Some South Cariboo Health Foundation Benches Available To Sponsor

The South Cariboo Health Foundation has a “New” spring fundraising campaign going on.

In their never ending efforts to raise funds for the 100 Mile District General Hospital, the Foundation is currently looking for donors to sponsor 10 benches and a picnic table.

Public Relations and Fundraising Coordinator Danielle Sabiston said they are to go around the hospital facility.

“This will help the staff with their zero scaping for simple, no maintenance that requires minimal water use and it also gives people a great way to remember their loved one. We’re just rolling out this campaign and getting everything going. I already have 3 benches and the picnic table spoken for. They are already here in the hospital, we did that over the Winter, and at this point we need the ground and the weather to co-operate because all those benches go on a concrete pad.”

Sabiston said the foundation had done this before back in 2017 when they had done 20 benches at that time.

“Chatting with one of the plant services staff at the hospital they indicate that there really is a need for some more benches around the area. People like to get outside, the residents, the visitors, staff, everybody likes the fresh air and the more places we have to encourage that the better so I took it to our staff and they were all gung ho.”

Sabiston noted that they do have two spots in the D and E Wing courtyards for the residents which is off the Hospice Mill site, Fischer Place areas.

“So we have those spots that we’re looking for sponsors for those benches. The bonus for those ones is we’re actually going to pour an extended concrete pad so wheelchairs can roll right up next to the bench. So when you’re sitting on the bench your loved can get right up close to you and face the same direction and have that really good visit.”

Sabiston noted that they started initially with 10 spots and have since identified at least 3 more so there’s room for growth, definitely.

If you would like to sponsor a bench you can message their Facebook page, call the Cariboo Health Foundation 250-706-2101, or by email [email protected]
