A prescribed burn is planned at the Horsefly River Spawning Channel.

BC Wildfire Service with support from the Horsefly Volunteer Fire Department, will be working together on this project to help reduce the threat of wildfires.

It will cover approximately 2 hectares and will begin as early as today (April 10) continuing periodically until April 18.

BC Wildfire Service said smoke and flames may be visible to the community of Horsefly and signage will be posted along Horsefly Road for the duration of the burn.

Access to the Horsefly Wheelchair Accessible Salmon Habitat Viewing Trail will be restricted when ignitions are taking place.

BC Wildfire Service said the perimeter of the burn will be extinguished at the end of each day and smoke from within the perimeter may remain visible up to 48 hours after ignition.
