Cariboo Memorial Hospital’s New Tower has been Blessed

The new tower of Cariboo Memorial Hospital has been blessed by the local First Nation and Indigenous Communities in a smudging ceremony.

Representatives from the Williams Lake First Nation, Ulkatcho First Nation, Tsilhqot’in National Government, and Esk’etemc First Nation performed smudging on the new tower on Friday, April 4th, to bring blessings and good medicine to the project.

Interior Health says this ceremony resulted from key takeaways from their Nation Partners and Indigenous Communities who have access to the site on the importance of smudging in Indigenous cultures.

Interior Health says it will continue to honour Indigenous directions and voices in the Hospital’s redevelopment project as construction continues.
