Some Cariboo Regional District Transfer Stations On Summer Hours

Even though it’s early Spring, Summer hours are now in effect at some Transfer Station in the region.

Cariboo Regional District Manager of Solid Waste, Tara Grady, said as of April first to the end of September the new hours will be in effect at attendant facilities that are rural sites.

“Hours haven’t changed at all for the regional facilities on Frizzi Road in Williams Lake or the 100 Mile House landfill in the South Cariboo. We typically see about 60 percent of our waste coming to our facilities between April and the end of September so we like to offer more access during those six months to help accommodate the higher levels of waste that’s generated.”

Grady went over what transfer stations the new Summer hours are now in effect.

“In the Williams Lake area the 150 Mile House, Frost Creek, and the Wildwood Transfer Stations. In the South Cariboo they’ll be changes at the Forest Grove, Lac La Hache, and Lone Butte transfer Stations as well as the Interlakes and Watch Lake landfills. In the North Cariboo, the Baker Creek transfer Station will be transitioning as well.”

If there some items you’re not sure what can be taken to these facilities, Grady had this to say.

“We would encourage people to make use of the recycling depots around your local Municipality for things like used tires, used oil, used batteries, light bulbs, small appliances, electronics, cell phones, all of those can be recycled at various depots around our region. If you have something you’re trying to recycle and not sure where to take it, I encourage them to use rcbc.ca. It’s an easy website to search your item and your location and they can tell you the closest place you can recycle those things.”
