New Cell Phone Tower To Be Activated End Of April In The Chilcotin

The lines of communication will be open even wider for people living and travelling in the Cariboo Chilcotin thanks to a new cell phone tower.

Cariboo Regional District Electoral Area J Director Tolin Pare said Telus has been doing quite an upgrade to Highway 20.

“This one here will be the fourth tower that they have installed. This one that’s ready to be activated is right on Tsi Del Del boundary at Redstone. The tower has been up I believe it was right around October and now it looks like it will be coming online here at the end of April.”

Pare said he is kind of curious on how far the signal will reach but where it is it should cover a fair distance of Highway 20.

“A lot of people have to stay connected nowadays with either their jobs or they’re on holidays so this new cell phone tower adds a little bit more appeal to travelling out in this area. It’s another essential service that is being added to Highway 20.”

Pare noted that there are plans in the works for a cell phone tower in Kleena Kleene area and another for the Alexis Creek area.
