Up-and-coming Quesnel Hockey players will get to learn from the Quesnel River Rush for three weeks.
Starting today, March 31, until April 17, the River Rush is hosting Spring Ice Time for kids Under 9 to Under 18 to develop and build on their skills directly from the River Rush coaches and players.
“We want to take care of developing our future and our team. We want to build locally here,” says Coach Jeremy LeBlanc. “I think starting at a young age is crucial for us.”
Each week will be split into days that focus on collections of skills. The kids will get training on shooting, edgework, stick and puck handling, and power skating. There’ll even be three-on-three scrimmages.
Coach LeBlanc says that during his time coaching in academies back in his home of New Brunswick, these training times made a difference for the players.
“It works really well. This is the time when we can take care of those individual skills that will help them move on to the next level. We see it in the Spring ID camp when we took time to do skills work with the defensemen individually.”
