A New Drink Hits Williams Lake’s Local Pubs and Liquor Stores

Williams Lake residents have a new locally owned alcoholic beverage to sip on just in time for Spring.

Trio Beverages only hit the market at the beginning of last week and has started to make a splash in the local markets, hitting the shelves of liquor stores, restaurants, and pubs in the Lake City.

Founded by a local Trio, Lucas Samways, Levi Nelson, and Tanner Gainer, who came up with the idea for their beverage after seeing a “gap in the market.”

“We noticed that when it comes to vodka and gin beverages, in relation to the ingredients that go in them, to make the experience better and more associated with an active lifestyle,” Samways says. “One of our main goals for that was to make sure we were using real fruits, and we also added electrolytes to all our flavours.”

The drinks are distilled by Orchard City Distilling out of Kelowna, and use BC and Canadian sourced fruits as their flavour bases. It’s not only the distilling that home grown, Samways says the labeling is done by Canvas Craft, a Canadian labeling company out of Burnaby.

Trio’s beverages hit the stores just two weeks ago, officially going to market last week. The four flavours can already be found at Oliver’s Street Bar and Grill, the Overlander Pub, the Laughing Loon, Prosperity Liquor Store, Marshall Liquor Store, and the South Broadway Liquor store.

The founding trio were always pushing for a spring release, Samways does say they have lucked out with “Buy Canadian” push as part of the response against the U.S tariffs. Seeing more opportunities to hit the shelves of liquor stores across the province. Finding shelves in Vernon, Kelowna, and Kamloops stocking their cans.

“We want to be sort of ‘founder driven’, and driven in the direction of supporting smaller and other businesses in our area. We wanted to focus on Williams Lake, this town is very about supporting local, which we love about this town.”

At the time of reporting, Samways says they are already selling out of their stock at the Liquor Distribution Branch.

“Our main goal now is to keep pushing batches out, and getting them out to new locations. We don’t want to miss the small towns because we know how driven and passionate local communities can be.”
