Quesnel RCMP, along with police throughout the province, are targeting distracted drivers this month.
Corporal Curt Banse, the Unit Commander for Traffic in Quesnel, says that’s anything from people being on their cell phones to doing other things that are dividing people’s attention.
Banse says some things are obvious, such as reading the newspaper or putting on make-up, but he says others are not.
He says they call them crotch watchers, which are people that have their cell phones on their laps and try to use them.
Banse says distracted driving is still very, very prevalent.
He says that’s despite a fine of 167 dollars for regular drivers and 121 dollars for L or N drivers.
